Arizona State Baseball: Alumni Game Welcomes Back Former Sun Devils

asubase David Banks-GettyTEMPE, Ariz.  –  The Arizona State University Baseball team began official practice last week and will welcome back several alumni on February 8 for the annual alumni game. Past players of the storied program include current MLB all-stars Dustin Pedroia, Andre Ethier, Ian Kinsler and Jason Kipnis.

College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Oddibe McDowell will make his triumphant return to Bobby Winkles Field at Packard Stadium and take his spot in the outfield. McDowell played for three MLB teams in his nine-year career and finished fourth in the AL Rookie of the Year voting in 1985 playing for the Texas Rangers.

McDowell was a member of the 1984 United States Olympic Team and is currently the head baseball coach at Everglades High School in Miramar, Fla. , a hop, skip and a jump from his hometown of Hollywood, Fla.
